How to Export a Captioned Video Without Losing Quality
26 October 2026 · 6 min read · CaptionFy team

You filmed in sharp 1080p, added captions, and the export looks blurry. It is a common problem, and almost always a settings issue rather than a camera issue.
Match your source resolution
Exporting a 1080×1920 clip at 720p throws away detail you cannot get back. Always export at the same resolution as your source unless you have a reason to shrink it.
Keep the original frame rate
Changing 60 fps footage to 30 fps, or the other way round, can introduce judder. Keep the frame rate the same as the recording.
Bitrate matters more than file size
Bitrate is how much data each second of video gets. Too low, and fine detail like hair, text and texture turns to mush. A slightly bigger file at a healthy bitrate looks far better after the platform re-compresses it.
CaptionFy shows bitrate and frame rate before export and defaults to source-quality settings, so the captioned file stays as sharp as the original.
Upload the right way
Upload the exported file directly from your phone or computer rather than sending it through a messaging app first; many messengers compress video heavily.
The short version
Same resolution, same frame rate, generous bitrate. That combination keeps captioned exports crisp.
